Value Stream Mapping

Value stream mapping is a visualization tool that powerful to see and understand the flow of information, material and operator as a product or service and to identify the non added value activities within the organization. The principle guidelines of value stream mapping are to understand the source of waste in the value stream and map the future state condition.

Steps to create value stream mapping are collect data that will be necessary prior to mapping process then map the current state of a product or process. The current value stream mapping serves as a whole point for improving the overall value stream. Next step is analyzing the flow of the product or process to identify where improvements can be made and map the future state of a product or process based on lean.
